When you have a pet, they become like family. As you think of taking a vacation, you may not be able to fathom the idea of leaving your furry friend behind. Fortunately, there are several pet-friendly hotels so you don’t have to worry about leaving your four-legged family member. Here are some of the top pet-friendly hotels to keep in mind when planning your next adventure:
Kimpton Hotels
Not only do Kimpton Hotels allow your pet to stay with you, they go above and beyond to make sure your furry family member is comfortable. Some of their locations even have a “Director of Pet Relations” wandering the halls and greeting guests. Some things you can expect by bringing your four-legged friend to this hotel are: courtesy bags for walking your dog, plush pet bed loaner in your room with food, water bowl, and mat. You will also be given a list of all the nearby groomers and pet-friendly parks, boutiques, and restaurants. As if there aren’t enough benefits, the hotel allows you to bring your pet free of charge — no additional charges or deposits are required.
The Fess Parker Santa Barbara Hotel- A DoubleTree Resort by Hilton
This California-based resort welcomes guests to bring a maximum of two pets that are no more than 75 pounds. There is an additional charge per night of $50. Not all rooms at The Fess Parker are pet friendly, and they are limited, so it’s beneficial to plan your stay in advance. Pets can’t be left alone in rooms, so be sure you will be able to bring them with you each time you leave the resort.
Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel
This Sheraton hotel in Virginia Beach allows you to bring two dogs up to 40 pounds. You can book in advance for a pet-friendly room and there are no additional fees if you want to bring along your furry friend. The hotel is conveniently located on the beach, which means you can bring your dog for a swim or on the balcony to get some fresh air. Pet-friendly restaurants are also available near the hotel. Unfortunately, cats and other pets are not permitted.
Aloft Hotels
Aloft Hotels, part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts family, boasts being pet friendly at 101 of their 169 North American properties. Although these hotels are all from the same family, certain hotels may have different pet policies. Typically, they allow a maximum of two dogs for each room. Each dog needs to be no more than 40 pounds, and there is no additional fee. Although these restrictions are set, if guests have larger dogs or another type of pet, they should contact the manager at the specific hotel they want to book as the manager may discuss specific waivers. These hotels have an “arf” program, which provides guests with dogs bowls, a designated pet bed, and even a “goodie doggie” bag filled with toys and treats.
Red Roof Inns
Not only are Red Roof Inns pet friendly, but they don’t charge an additional pet fee. Even more amazing, they offer a 10% discount if you bring your dog. Thankfully, there are over 500 locations that provide economical accommodations around the United States, which means you are likely able to take advantage of their special offer. They allow one dog or one cat per room. Make sure to check the pet policy for the hotel you wish to book as the rules may vary slightly.
Remember that many other hotels, such as Marriott, have select pet-friendly hotels at international properties. If you have your heart set on a certain hotel, it is worth the double check to ensure if your fur-baby can come along.
Non-Hotel Options
Today, there are multiple outlets that can help you travel with your pet- hotels are no longer the only option. For instance, many Airbnb’s have pet-friendly accommodations. With these options you can even get lucky with a fenced-in yard or park nearby to help you exercise your pup even away from home. Additionally, it can be a less chaotic environment than checking into a hotel!
