Arya's Story

A german shepherd dog in this image named arya is looking all so worried while lounging haa a surgry that lead to infection.

Vet Bill: $6,759

Upon picking Arya up from being boarded, her mom, Stephanie C., noticed a bad limp. After a few weeks of medicine to no relief, their vet recommended X-rays. Unfortunately, they found that Arya had torn her cranial cruciate ligament and needed surgery, but the problem didn't end there. Stephanie was thankful to have Embrace during Arya's tough time and shared their story with us."

Arya joined our family when she was just seven weeks old. My husband is a combat veteran and suffered from some severe PTSD upon return from Afghanistan and his transition back to civilian life. We received Arya through a non-profit called the Wounded Warrior Pack that supplies service dogs to combat veterans. The service dogs are trained by the veteran themselves. We purchased pet insurance for Arya at a very young age as she has always been more than family.

For the first few years of her life, Arya went everywhere with my husband. She gave him his life back. He eventually got to a point where he no longer needed Arya to serve as a service dog outside the home and Arya got to enjoy her early retirement and relive the puppy years she missed.

We traveled to San Diego for our first child's baby shower and boarded Arya where we always do, at a boarding facility especially for German Shepherds. When we returned and picked her up we noticed she was limping on her right side. We figured she had too much fun and needed rest. When it did not subside a week later, we took her to the vet. They prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine and sent us home. Weeks later, she was still having difficultly. We returned to have an x-ray done and found out that she tore the equivalent of her doggy ACL. As soon as our first child was born, we scheduled her surgery. Surgery went well and she recovered with a new little sister at home! On our first check up, it was discovered that she had a small infection at the incision site and we were prescribed antibiotics. On a subsequent follow-up, they determined that the plate they put in was harboring bacteria and needed to come out. We went through a SECOND surgery to remove the plate, and thankfully all seems well now!

With Embrace, we never have to worry if we can afford the care she needs. There is a 50% chance that she will need this same surgery on her other side, but once again we don't have to stress over that possibility because we have Embrace. The claims process is so easy to submit online and the reimbursement is direct deposited into my bank account before we know it.

Thank you Embrace for covering Arya through all of life's little and big accidents!"
